How to Use This Time of Quarantine to Improve Yourself

You’ve only been inside for a few weeks, but it probably feels like months. You may be starting to get frustrated by your inability to get things done during quarantine. Rather than focusing on your limitations, look at the opportunities. You’re never going to get another time like this. So, if you’ve got excess energy to burn, try the following.

Evaluate and Set New Goals

Take a look at the state of your life and see where you want to improve. In order to get the most out of your time, you need to set some reasonable goals. Consider areas like, physical fitness, finances, vacation and travel, academics, and your home. If there is something that you want to change, or get done, write it down. These can be the objectives that will guide the goals you set.

You can create S.M.A.R.T goals for ways you want to improve or change. S.M.A.R.T. is an acronym that will guide you in how to set the right kind of goals. It stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relative, and time bound.

Meditate and Relax

You’re probably experiencing a lot more downtime than you are used too. It might be tempting to waste away this time on social media and streaming shows. While this may be entertaining, it’s not a mentally healthy way to live. Take advantage of this extra time to work on your mental health. A great way to do this is by meditating and relaxing. Break out your yoga mat and sit and lie on the floor and listen to relaxing sounds. There are lots of great videos and apps that you can use to help you accomplish this. This will give you a great opportunity to calmly reflect on the path that your life is taking and come to terms with the difficulties you are facing.

Learn a New Skill

The more you know, the more valuable you are. So why not use this time to increase your value? You could pick up that hobby that you’ve always been wanting to. Maybe you could turn it into a side hustle for some extra cash. Perhaps there is a skill in demand at your workplace. Taking this time to learn that skill could earn you a raise when quarantine ends. Consider learning an art form for personal enjoyment. You could draw, paint, sing, or play an instrument. If you want private instruction, there are many teachers that are currently offering virtual lessons.

You should always look for the silver lining in every unfortunate situation. Don’t let yourself waste away your time, you’ll never get it back. When this is all over, you will regret not taking advantage of your opportunities. On the other hand, you’ll never regret the life improvements you make.
